Education events inside Second Life

muveforward has a calendar which combines several Google calendars of education events in Second Life into one neat widget. Very handy, and easy to do yourself using Google calendar. But for the second time in as many posts I’ve run into the problem of having a WordPress.com hosted blog not displaying widgets, though.

I created my own Google calendar of calendars, and you might have better luck embedding it than I have - cut and paste the following into your own web-page and hopefully you’ll get a widget like the one on muveforward:

<iframe src=”http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?title=Second%20Life%20Inworld%20Education%20Events&amp;showTabs=0&amp;mode=AGENDA&amp;height=500&amp;wkst=1&amp;bgcolor=%23FFFFFF&amp;src=5hqctr9m4us0gm6bk5cjv37bu4%40group.calendar.google.com&amp;color=%2329527A&amp;src=internationalschoolsisland%40gmail.com&amp;color=%23B1365F&amp;src=um25dbsm7uuis774tb5ualldmk%40group.calendar.google.com&amp;color=%235229A3&amp;src=3bb3buph2sacrtvmici65p80tk%40group.calendar.google.com&amp;color=%237A367A&amp;src=f3b7ubjteso0776u83v4i38qm8%40group.calendar.google.com&amp;color=%23A32929″ style=” border-width:0 ” width=”400″ height=”500″ frameborder=”0″ scrolling=”no”></iframe>

Helen’s Nerdy blog discusses how to display Google calendar events in an RSS widget on WordPress. Not helpful if, like me, you are trying to get the Calendar widget into your post.
It may be time for me to consider ‘hosting my own’.
